What it involves
A specialised metal probe (shalaka) is heated and briefly touched to a marked point to create a superficial therapeutic burn; used at specific loci for pain relief or to treat particular lesions, followed by soothing dressings.

- chronic localised joint or heel pain
- certain warts and small growths
- some non-healing conditions
- Vata-Kapha pain unresponsive to other measures
Contraindications & cautions
- Pitta-dominant persons and bleeding disorders
- diabetes and poor wound healing
- over vital points and thin skin without expertise
- pregnancy
