What it involves
A measured dose of medicated oil (taila) is administered rectally after food and retained for as long as comfortable; it is given on days between Niruha bastis and generally does not need to be evacuated by force.

- low back pain
- emaciation
Contraindications & cautions
- indigestion or ama
- diabetes with poor digestion
- severe kapha or obesity
- anaemia and jaundice
- on an empty stomach (given post-meal)
