A localised oil-pooling therapy over the heart/chest region using a dough dam, used to strengthen the heart and ease chest tension.

What it involves

A ring of black-gram dough is placed on the chest over the heart and filled with warm medicated oil, which is retained and periodically renewed for 20-40 minutes to soothe the local tissues.

Traditionally used for

  • chest tightness and stress
  • cardiac weakness (supportive)
  • anxiety with palpitation
  • muscular chest pain

Contraindications & cautions

  • acute cardiac events (seek emergency care)
  • broken skin over the chest
  • very high fever
