A specially coated alkaline thread used to treat fistula-in-ano and similar tracts by gradually cutting and healing the tract simultaneously.

What it involves
A thread repeatedly coated with herbal alkali (and turmeric and latex) is threaded through the fistulous tract and changed at intervals; it slowly cuts through while its antiseptic action promotes healing behind it.

- certain chronic sinus tracts
