Kutipraveshika Rasayana

An intensive, secluded rejuvenation therapy carried out inside a specially built cottage, considered the most thorough (but demanding) form of rasayana.

reduces Vatareduces Pittaneutral for Kapha

What it involves

After purification, the person enters a purpose-built, draught-free chamber (kuti) and stays in seclusion following strict diet, conduct and rasayana formulations for an extended period; the controlled environment is said to yield the deepest rejuvenation.

Traditionally used for

  • deep rejuvenation in the healthy and prepared
  • restoration after debility (when strong enough)
  • longevity and vitality regimens

Contraindications & cautions

  • the frail or those unable to tolerate seclusion and discipline
  • acute illness
  • without prior purification
  • psychological unsuitability for isolation

Questions to ask a practitioner

  • Am I strong enough for the indoor method versus the outdoor (vatatapika) method?
  • What discipline and duration are required?

Evidence notes

The more intensive of the two classical rasayana methods; feasible only in a suitable facility with full supervision.
