Barley–Vegetable Soup
Light barley simmered with seasonal vegetables and warming spices — a classical grain for reducing Kapha and excess weight.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup pearl barley
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (cabbage, carrot, celery)
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 5 cups water or broth
Method
- Rinse barley; sauté vegetables briefly in oil with cumin.
- Add barley and liquid; simmer 35–40 minutes.
- Season with black pepper, salt, and parsley.
Agni note. Barley is the classical 'scraping' grain — light and drying, favored when heaviness and congestion dominate.
